The 'Pan' tool is used to move the model point of view vertically and horizontally across the plane of the screen. To pan the view, click on the 'Pan' tool, then press the left mouse button and keep the button pressed as you move the mouse cursor, the point of view will pan horizontally as you move the mouse cursor left and right and vertically as you move it up and down.
