Topic: Not model shading itself of a building

Hi Dante, I understand it as if you can simulate the baseline model with the solar distribution option 1-Minimal shadowing (so auto shading is not considered), while the proposed model can be simulated with the option 2-Full exterior or 3-Full interior and exterior (so the auto shading is considered...

Did you check "Store opening output"? (I don't remember if it is the exact text in English).

I would not recommend to model internal columns explicity. Even its thermal mass aportation could be very low. External columns, if are embebed in the wall and represent thermal bridges, could be modeled with sub-surfaces. You can model false ceilings as part of the construction (including the air g...

I think it refers to the schedule of natural ventilation (in HVAC tag, when Simple HVAC model option is used) and the ventilation temperature set point (in the Activity tab).

I tried to answer you in the Spanish forum:

If this element let pass some solar radiation and/or wind through it, maybe it's better to model it as an opening.

If it is an opaque and closed element, then you can create your own construction.

If you refer to components blocks: not currently, you have to select one material at building or block level. If you refer to building blocks: yes, you can go to surface level and define a different construction. Even you can define different constructions within the same surface by mean of sub-surf...

Topic: Creating .AVI-movie inside building for different dates?

Mattias,

You can create separated videos for each case, changing the date (day and month) in the left panel (you have to active "Show shadows").

Then maybe you can edit the videos externally in order to integrate them in one.

I´ve tried to answer this in the Spanish DB forum.

Just to add that you have to consider that relative humidity varies sinificantly with air temperature (the same quantity of water vapour represents a higher RH if air temperature decreases).

In order to do that you have to set natural ventilation as calculated, in Model options.

Yes, you are right, at least for EnergyPlus module. In EP, constructions are planar elements (geometrically speaking).

It is supposed that you can define outside reveals (openings tag), but I'm not sure if it's really working.

As far as I remember, local shading is modeled from the inner face of the wall, because it is the "real" envelope element.

If you open the in.idf file generated by DB (after simulation) with SketchUp-OpenStudio or similar, could see the actual geometry passed to EP.

Hi,

I’ve recently experienced the same trouble when using DB besides the CAD software ProgreCAD (something that didn’t happen in the past). No matters the model size.

Marianne,

You will find some losses/gains through adiabatic constructions due to thermal mass effect.
