This is expected. The difference comes from interpolating hourly weather data for subhourly timesteps in EnergyPlus. In an hourly weather file, the temperatures and other state-point readings are the value at the time the reading was taken. For example, in the USA_IL_Chicago-OHare_TMY2.epw file, the...

V8.1.0.009 will be released quite soon. I am unsure of the exact date -- probably as early as next week?

It will contain the aforementioned correction for the weather converter but not the other bug fix.

Usually, you would put multiple "floors" in the same space or thermal zone.

Are you just changing the U/R values and not adding/subtracting thermal mass in the form of actual material properties? Without thermal mass, you will likely see few differences.

Also, if your building is conditioned, you'd see increase/decrease in energy rather than heat loss.

Your IDF will run fine (presumably) in EnergyPlus but in order to use it in IDFEditor you will need to edit the IDD to add extra fields. IDFEditor is constrained to use only the number of fields that are placed in the object in the Energy+.idd file. Both files can be edited with a text editor. (such...

As I mentioned elsewhere (either the helpdesk or the Yahoo EnergyPlus support group), it is likely (now that I see your EP-Launch window) the special characters in your path. Windows or some program does not seem to like them.

Well, definitely, in that case (surrounding zones or one not conditioned). But not sure if only this zone was not conditioned and surrounding ones conditioned. Originally, you stated the problem as though the zone with the problem was conditioned -- which the error message said not. If you like, you...

The problem was most likely the fact you had interzone partitions to this uncontrolled space -- if your high internal gains were in controlled spaces, that is. So, if you had made them simple adiabatic walls, that would have been okay too but you would have missed that it was really transferring tha...

I presume (the part you didn't mention) is that the surface temperature is going out of bounds. You probably need to increase your infiltration rate for this UNCONTROLLED zone.

Or find some other method to prevent the head build up in the zone.

Looks to me as though you have the wrong format for the object. Perhaps running an older version of the IDF file in a later version of EnergyPlus without properly converting it?

That\'s not the same issue as the other person. This one -- you have put a window or door into an adiabatic wall -- that is not allowed. You will need to delete that window/door or make that wall an interzone surface.

Actually, the IDF Editor -- if that is what is being used -- can display the data in IP units, for several releases now.

Internally, the data is still SI in EnergyPlus.

In addition, both HTML and "regular" output reports from EnergyPlus can be displayed in IP units.
