Re: Chilled ceiling information

Hi, There are 3 ways to define the cooling capacity of the chilled ceiling. 1-Design capacity (W) 2-Capacity per floor area (W/m2) 3-Fraction of autosized capacity For more information about this component see the Program Help link below: http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/helpv6.0/#Chilled_Ceiling_-_Co...

Re: natural ventilation

Hi,

You may consider to use the 4-Constant control mode for your windows.
See help section Control mode at:
http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/helpv6.0 ... atVent.htm

Re: HVAC Type depend on hot and cold water source

Hi, I would suggest to start with the "Fan Coil unit (4-pipe) with District Heating + Cooling" and then make the necessary input adjustments afterwords on the HVAC tab. Note that these templates are for Simple HVAC Model option and it does not really matter which template is selected since...

Re: Heating Design outputs

Hi,

I would suggest to check the Heating setpoint temperature (at Activity tab) for these zones. These should be set to the comfort temperature.

Re: Transfering blocks and/or cloning buildings

Hi,

You can use the Clone tool at Site level.
http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/helpv6.0 ... e_Copy.htm

In summary the steps are:

1. Navigate to Site level
2. Mouse click on the Building
3. Select the Clone tool on toolbar.
4. click one point on the building and complete the operation.

Re: Internal PCM walls/block

Hi Alan, You may consider using Hanging partitions but these are modelled non-geometrically in EnergyPlus as Internal thermal mass. http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/helpv6.0/#Hanging_Partitions.htm > can I create multiple buildings (with different PCM options) in the same file? Yes, you just need to b...

Hi,

I would suggest to update the GPU driver to see if it makes a difference. This sort of problems can occur with low spec integrated cards.

Re: Tromb wall

Hi,

I believe you will need to model the layers as different partition walls and then draw a Vent object on inner partition representing the insulation layer.

Re: Results differ if applying window or hole with the same size

Hi, Based on your description it looks like that the window is operating with temperature control that is the default control type for Calculated Natural Ventilation. See Program Help http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/helpv6.0/#CalculatedNatVent.htm Holes in the other hand, are always considered open o...

Re: Heating and cooling needs

Hi, The heating and cooling needs are only determined if there is an HVAC system present on the model ( for free running buildings it is normally added Cooling and Heating with COP of 1 or use District Heating/Cooling). The Heating and Cooling loads will be reported on the System loads graph. BR, Luis

Re: Operation schedule doesnt suit with the simulationr results

Hi,

You may need to check that all schedules that are used by the Heating system (Operation, Availability, Temperature setpoints, etc.) are also using the value 0 for the summer period.

Re: Modeling an operable EXTERIOR shade

Hi

Yes, you can model external window shading by selecting the 'Window shading' > Position ="3- outside".
See Program help "Position" section:

Re: Unistalling issue with DB 5.0.3.007

Hi

If the SETUP.EXE file is missing from the Installshield folder mentioned above then one workaround is to re-run the old v5.0 installer to reinstate files. Then you should be able to follow the manual uninstall steps.

Luis
