BER for dry cleaners

Guys I have been asked to prepare a BER for a 2 storey Dry Cleaners/Laundry in Dublin which will be let probably as some other type of shop. The unit does not have any heating at present as the gains of the equipment are high. I was going to put down the activity as Industrial Process Building with ...

Ground floor over open basement

Hi I am working on a BER in which the ground floor is over an open basement, which would mean its floor should be 'external floor' To try and achieve this, I created a model with the basement at ground level and ground floor over it, but the ground floor is showing the floor as adjacent to ground. I...

BER for Hotel

Hi I am working on a ROI BER for a hotel using DB v 2.3.6.007. If this was in the UK and I was using DB v3 then the new activity list would have the Hotel/Bed which woudl include the en-suite. So my question is, for a BER using DB V 2.3.6 is the en-suite part of the bedroom or a separate zone and ac...

Roof

Hi Does it really matter if you show a roof as being pitched as long as the flat roof U-value is the same as a pitched roof? The reason I ask is that I am working on a building which is part curved with a courtyard and trying to get the pitch roof shown is a real bitch, if possible. See attached pla...

Wall thickness

Hi

As DB uses external wall dimensions, if you are working on a building with different wall thickness, is there any issue with setting wall thickness very low and using internal dimensions??

v3.0.0.064

Hi

Just installed v3.0.0.064 but DB seems to be crashing Acobat Reader when I do a Bldg Reg calc and doesn't give an output.
Anyone else encountered this or have a solution?

Auxillary Energy

Hi, I working on a building with a central warm air heating system and the auxillary energy is working out at about 32% of total. I suspect that fan power is considered auxillary energy and not part of heating energy which woudl explain the high figure. Can you confirm if this is correct. Thanks Cor...
