Detailed HVAC Schedules

Postby MM » Wed Dec 21, 2016 10:54 am

In a building model using Detailed HVAC option, does green-highlighted schedules defined in HVAC table (in each building zone) are directly related to the ones defined in the HVAC Template (in each Loop) parameters?

As an example, I attached two images to this message:
- Detailed HVAC zone schedules
- Detailed HVAC zone schedules - HVAC table

Thanks in advance.

U must have enabled the detailed HVAC mode for your model.

1. The green highlighted schedules are the operation schedules of the HVAC system which will be enabled when simple HVAC mode is enabled which in your case is otherwise. The values here will be used for cooling design calculations alone in your case along with the cooling set points values defined in the activity tab.
2. The HVAC zone data attached as the 2nd image is the cooling set points for each zone . For simulation of energy consumption, these values will be referred.

In short they are not directly related. Hope this helps.

There are two places to set the temperature setpoints for a zone:
in the tab 'activity' and in the zone group 'thermostat schedules'.

Why is the tab activity not green highlighted?
Will the temperature settings in the tab 'activity' somewhere be used in energy simulations or other simulations?

Hi HeaCoo,

There are two down-drop options in the detailed HVAC mode. i.e one being the simple and the other being detailed. In the case of simple being selected, there is not a option to give thermostat controls for the zone in the modeled HVAC zones and it is here where the activity tab cooling set point temperature is taken for energy simulation purpose. Whereas when you select the detailed down-drop option in detailed HVAC mode, thermostat controls are available for controlling zone set point temperature and thus over-riding the set point temperature in activity tab for energy simulation purpose.

If any other explanation is available other than the above, i am open to corrections. Feel free to contribute.
