Wall thickness

Postby mtommosg » Tue Nov 03, 2015 8:31 am

I am very new with DB and I got v4.5 and just trying to change the wall thickness, but the tutorials have it set in block drawing settings and I done have that option just the height in my DB.

Thanks so much.

I'm afraid that some tutorials where made with DB V3 and don't cover the new V4 thickness mechanism.

In DesignBuilder V4 the wall thickness is taken from the sum of the layers thickness set in the Construction. For example: if you have set a external wall construction with 2 layers: 0.2 m of concrete and 0.02 of gypsum the wall thickness will be 0.22 m.

Note that you can override the wall thickness by entering a fixed value on 'Fixed Surface Thicknesses' (Construction tab -> Construction -> Geometry, Areas and volumes).
See more: http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/helpv4.5 ... olumes.htm

If you use the geometry convention template - option "Simple" , you should get zero for wall thickness (partition, roof, floors, etc).

I would recommend you to watch the video which explains the main changes in V4:

Hope this helps.

Wall thickness

Postby RafaelFrels » Mon Mar 13, 2017 6:08 am

Hello everyone,

I am designing some patio furniture with aluminium frames similar to this Kettal piece shown.
What wall thickness would you recommend for the tubing?
Thank you in advance
