PV model bugs?

Hi,

There seems to be some bugs on the PV models on the version 4 releases:

1. There is no !Competition PV Panel available on the Performance model list. Only PV Constant Efficiency = 0.25 and PV Scheduled Efficiency = 0.15 are available. Thus we will not be able to stick to the Doc14_Brief instructions without this option if ever we will use PV.

2. Only AC electric load centers work. All DC buss types have an error saying similar to: "Missing library component data: Electric load centre Id = 4 [DC with inverter + DC storage Generator List - This list has missing or duplicate generators.]"

3. Different sizes of PV Panels generate the same output: -668033.4 kwh. Different panel sizes should be able to generate different output for the same rated capacity, right?

Please clarify and see if you can duplicate errors.

Hi Jun,

1. Sorry, it was our fault. For some reason the !Competition PV Panel is not available on the .dsb files (site and example) provided for the competition. We suggest the participants to create this PV Panel type using the settings as informed in the brief document (The panels have efficiency of 15% and cost 600 GBP per m2 of panel area). See section 2.10 of the brief document for more information


2. You are getting this error because you didn’t assign the PV solar panel on the ‘Generator List’ tab (See the figure attached – PV solar collector.png). Load centres serving PV need to be specified with a direct current (d.c.) buss.
Also the AC electric load works because it uses by default Wind turbines.

Note that you have to create a new component on the ‘Load centre’ to assign the PV solar collector. See the figure attached which is showing an example “My customized inverterâ€

Thanks Marco,

PV model is working now.

In the document brief page 23 when you say "Panels can positioned anywhere in the model...", are we supposed to put PV panels on the building only, or can we put PV panels on the ground but within the site boundary. This is to model ground-mount PV panels or Carport canopy PV Panels. Are we allowed to do this (which means we have to put component blocks to model the mounting)?

Yes, I think so if you include the PV panels within the site boundary.
