Results differ if applying window or hole with the same size

Postby hungdang » Tue Jan 15, 2019 9:56 am

Hi,

I am studying on the internal wind environment for a simple terraced house. The room is my smallest unit for testing. I have a room 5m W x 5m D x 3m H. One door is in partition wall and one opening in exposed wall. I calculated airflow in and out through openings. I tried to use window or a hole of the same size in external wall Window opening was set 100% open, 24/7. The result between them is different. For use of window, many values of airflow through window are 0, especially at noon. For use of hole, all values are above 0. I need to these data for CFD calculation. So, i am confused about which opening element i should use window or replacement by a hole.
Can you help me?

Hi,

Based on your description it looks like that the window is operating with temperature control that is the default control type for Calculated Natural Ventilation.
See Program Help http://www.designbuilder.co.uk/helpv6.0 ... atVent.htm

Holes in the other hand, are always considered open or with a constant control type.

BR,
Luis
