Effect of surface reflectance on lighting energy consumption

Postby amulya18 » Thu May 14, 2015 5:24 pm

Dear all,

Can you please tell me if increasing the surface reflectance (decreasing the visible absorptance) would be reflected in the lighting energy consumption? I know that increasing the reflectance to very high values effects the illuminance in an area by 5-10%..But will this be reflected in the energy consumption data in Designbuilder data?

Hello,

Radiance Daylighting calculation doesn't deal with lighting energy consumption.
You will need to run a Energyplus simulation to get the surface reflectance impact on lighting energy consumption.
