This checkbox defines whether any shading plane surface objects imported from a model via gbXML or IDF are to be applied to the DesignBuilder model. Enabled shade surfaces will be listed in the Navigator, displayed on the Edit screen as planes of various colours, rendered on the Visualisation screen and included in Radiance daylighting and EnergyPlus simulations as shading surfaces.
The only type of surface currently supported are shading plane surfaces which are displayed in green.
Shade surfaces that are not selected are not actually deleted from the model - they can be displayed again by changing the selection on this dialog.
Note: When shade surface planes are being shown (Shade surfaces is ticked), the Component block shades and reflects checkbox on the Constructions tab can be unchecked to prevent all or just particular planes from being included in EnergyPlus simulations and cooling design calculations.
Note: Shading plane surfaces do not have any impact on external CFD analyses.
