HVAC Cost

Air temperature distribution tab on HVAC Templates Dialog.

The HVAC cost is calculated zone by zone by multiplying the zone floor area by the cost per floor area (GIFA) for the zone on the HVAC tab. This data will normally be loaded from the HVAC template to ensure that HVAC performance and cost data are consistent.

This cost should include any contributions to the total cost of the building HVAC system from plant components and not only the components within the particular zone.

Note: This data is used for both Simple and Detailed HVAC for costing purposes.

Tip: The Cost data help topic provides an overview of the places in DesignBuilder where costs are entered.

Cost per area

Enter the total cost per floor area (GIFA) for the HVAC system. This data is used when the HVAC calculation method is set to 1-Cost per area.

HVAC cost per cooling load

Enter the indicative cost of the cooling element of this HVAC system type (in GBP/kW). This data is used when the HVAC calculation method is set to 2-Cost per capacity option and the cost for each zone is calculated based on its HVAC system capacity.

HVAC cost per heating load

Enter the indicative cost of the heating element of this HVAC system type (in GBP/kW). This data is used when the HVAC calculation method is set to 2-Cost per capacity option and the cost for each zone is calculated based on its HVAC system capacity.
