Location tab on model data at Site level
You can add a horizon to your model to include the effects of terrain or more distant tall buildings on the shading of the simulated building. Horizons are modelled by defining a horizon elevation angle for each direction (azimuth) around the building.
The horizon data is used in Cooling design calculations and EnergyPlus Simulations, but not in Daylighting simulations and Visualisations.
Note: To include the shading effect of nearby buildings you should generally use component blocks to represent those buildings for most accurate modelling. This is more accurate because their proximity to the modelled building will give rise to different horizon elevations for different parts of the building. The horizon system on the other hand would not capture this as it generates distant shading objects (100m away from the building by default) which for most buildings will provide an approximately constant horizon for all parts of the building.
Check this option to include the effects of terrain such as mountains, hills or more distant buildings.
Select the horizon component that defines the elevation of the horizon for each azimuth angle around the building.
