DesignBuilder Overheating Training
This 1-day online Overheating course will give you the knowledge you need to confidently use DesignBuilder’s TM52 and TM59 overheating tools.
The CIBSE TM52 and TM59 overheating assessment methods are now being extensively used to comply with a growing number of legislative requirements. This course will give you the skills you need to offer your clients reports demonstrating compliance with the overheating-related requirements of Building Regulations, BB101, BREEAM and The London Plan using the TM52 and TM59 methodologies.
We are currently offering online training at a reduced rate for February, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
The course will comprise of practical sessions guiding you through the overheating analysis workflow in DesignBuilder. Here is an outline of the day’s training:
- Using DesignBuilder’s TM52 tools
- Using DesignBuilder’s TM59 tools
- Modelling for BB101 overheating risk
- Modelling for BREEAM overheating credits
- Meeting the overheating requirements of the London Plan
By the end of the day’s training you should have a good grasp of how to quantify and reduce the risk of overheating for the main UK regulations and schemes using DesignBuilder. Please note that you must meet the course prerequisites below before booking this course.
This overheating course provides you with a great opportunity to learn more advanced simulation techniques and add some technical variety and higher value work to your client offering.
Modelling the overheating risk in naturally ventilated or mixed-mode buildings is more advanced than UK certification/NCM modelling using SAP, SBEM and DSM. A prerequisite for this one-day overheating course is the ability to use DesignBuilder’s EnergyPlus calculated natural ventilation analysis tools that utilise the power of the globally respected EnergyPlus airflow network. That could either be via previous attendance on the relevant days of DesignBuilder’s simulation training, or by completion of the relevant online training, or from relevant experience modelling with DesignBuilder calculated natural ventilation. Without that knowledge you will be unable to follow the trainer during the practical sessions, and the trainer will not have the capacity to upskill you on the day. If you decide to book the course without the prerequisite knowledge, you would simply have to sit, watch and listen to the trainer without further assistance if you fell behind.
If you wish to complete simulation training to prepare for the overheating training, we can provide access to our new on-demand online content for one month at a discounted price of £225. This on-demand content is equivalent to 3 days of classroom training and includes the latest geometry creation tools, model data inputs and setting up calculated natural ventilation simulations. This discounted price is only offered in conjunction with the overheating training. Please contact the DesignBuilder sales team for more details.
